By now you have probably heard about the new Tesla Model S, which, at around $100,000, is the most affordable car on the market.
But it has a lot more going for it than meets the eye.
Its main selling point is the fact that it can accelerate to 60mph in just 2.4 seconds, a remarkable feat for a car that costs nearly a million dollars more than the competition.
But is that enough to make up for the fact the car is expensive?
The answer may surprise you.
Tesla’s new electric car, Model 3, is actually more expensive than its predecessor, Model S. The Model 3 is more expensive by a couple of million dollars over its predecessor The new Model 3 will be priced at $37,500 (£23,800) and is expected to be available for deliveries in 2021.

That’s another big difference.
If we were to divide the price by the number of kilometres travelled, the Tesla Model Model 3 becomes less expensive than the new version.
That means that if you drive a Model 3 for 60km, it costs less than the $40,000 Tesla Model X, which costs $90,000 more than a similar car.
But if you were to drive a Tesla Model Y, it will cost you less than $27,000 or the $55,000 Toyota Prius, which will cost about $91,000 less.
The biggest change between the old and new cars is in the battery.

That will mean that the battery of Model 4 should last longer than 10,600km, which the Tesla is currently selling for around $75,000 in America.
And if you do the math, that’s a savings of $5,000 on the price.
This shows that the cost per kilometre of a new electric vehicle will be lower than that price of a petrol car.
And that’s why the Tesla model has become the most popular electric car on earth.
So what are the reasons for this?
Well, the biggest is the new electric motor that powers the new cars.
The more efficient electric motor means the new vehicle will run less.
So it will be able to accelerate faster and can achieve a lower top speed.
The electric motor is not the only difference between electric and petrol cars, of course.
The petrol engine is also more efficient than its electric cousin, the combustion engine.
